Why MP4
MP4 with H.264 video and AAC sound is the most widely supported video format there is. It plays in the iPhone Photos app, Android gallery, Windows Media Player, QuickTime, VLC, smart TVs and every editing app from CapCut to Premiere. When you convert TikTok to MP4 here, you get exactly that combination.
Some downloaders hand you WebM or HEVC files to save bandwidth. Those look fine on a new phone but fail on older laptops, office PCs and many TVs. MP4 with H.264 just works.
720p vs 1080p
TikTok accepts uploads up to 1080p for most accounts. If the creator uploaded in 1080p, SLMtik offers 1080p; if they uploaded at 720p, that is the highest real quality available.
| 720p | 1080p | |
|---|---|---|
| Pixels | 720 × 1280 | 1080 × 1920 |
| Size for 30 seconds | about 4–6 MB | about 8–15 MB |
| Best for | Sharing in chats, saving space | Big screens, re-editing |

File size
We pass the file through as it is stored, without compressing it again. That keeps the picture sharp. If you need a smaller file for WhatsApp, which limits most videos to about 100 MB and recompresses them anyway, choose 720p.
Editing the file
Because the MP4 keeps its vertical 9:16 frame, you can drop it straight into CapCut, InShot, iMovie or DaVinci Resolve. If you are re-using someone else's clip in your edit, ask them first and give credit. To reuse your own TikToks on other platforms, read how to repost TikTok to Reels and Shorts.
Watching on a TV
Copy the MP4 to a USB stick and plug it into the TV, or cast it from your phone's gallery. Vertical video fills the middle of a wide screen; that is normal and keeps the creator's framing.
